Heart of England Way Association

A lovely 4.20 mile circular walk from the Bulls Head in Barston once again led by Bill which took us over open countryside, crossing over the River Blythe and walking along part of the Grand Union Canal.  We were once again blessed with good weather and all enjoyed the usual meal and drink at the finish.

Following an initial reckie by Steve, on a ridiculously hot day, Bill, Ian and Lorna joined him for some path clearance of the above section which included the erection of a new post.

Pleased to see 17 eager walkers turn up to this 4.32 mile circular walk from the very pretty village of Norton Lyndsey.  Once again blessed with beautiful weather, this walk took us over open fields with lovely views and only two stiles to navigate.

10 of us met at the Hopwood House car park for a 4 mile circular walk led by Ian which took us through open countryside with pleasant views including a small section of the North Worcestershire Long Distance Path and alongside Upper Bittell Reservoir.  The last stretch was along the Worcester & Birmingham canal which took us to the Hopwood House pub for lunch and refreshments.

13 of us joined today's 4.24 mile walk lead by Bill.  This was arguably one of the prettiest Wednesday walks we have done which was predominantly through wooded areas decked with wild garlic.

Began 4.11 mile circular walk from the Coach and Horses, Weatheroak on a beautiful sunny spring day. Plenty of open countryside adorned with blossom and the beginning of bluebells about to flower.

I attended his cremation today.

He was 91 years old and was a member of the club for 20 years, very likeable gentleman

We started the longer Sunday walks today.
Leaving The Gardeners Arms car park, set off on a 6 mile plus walk. Through the fields and up to Alderton Hill, certainly warming us up on a chilly but dry morning. Turning east round the hill then down towards Naunton Farm here picking up the Winchcombe Way. Setting out sites north for Dumbleton. Breaking for lunch in Dumbleton we found a very comfortable shelter. Before returning west back round Dumbleton Hill still on the Winchcombe Way.
Bill finally lead the six of us back to Alderton, for a drink in The Gardeners Arms.

Starting from The Swan at Whitacre Heath on a bright sunny day 9 of us set out for a four and half mile walk.
Following the HOE way south towards Shustoke Reservoirs, crossing over the railway line by the reservoir, then turning back north over the railway.
Stopping for a coffee break by Hill Farm before continue on through Nether Whitacre finally turning left back on to the HOE way and return to Whitacre Heath.
Excellent lunch at the The Swan.

Started the new year with 10 bright and eager members on freezing cold Wednesday morning. Bill led the walk from the Bulls head car park in Meriden, crossing the B4104 and on towards Four Oaks. Minor change to route as part of the section was flooded. On the return we pick up Alan's section of the HOEW leading to the Church at Church Farm, Meriden. Then following the road back in to Meriden.
Finished with a very enjoyable lunch at the Strawberry Bank.
